Maternity Session in Madison, Wisconsin is perfect in the summer! My first conversation with Michelle was about what she wanted for her intimate Maternity Session. She wanted something that felt fun and timeless. Michelle wanted the love she and Jake have for each other to carry down to their daughter. The two of them have such good energy and made it so easy to capture this special time. I can’t believe they will be welcoming their sweet daughter in just a few weeks!

As we planned for their maternity session in Madison, Wisconsin. Michelle really wanted this to feel intimate with a lot of warmth. This is her first experience into motherhood and she really wanted to savor every moment. From wardrobe and styling to the location- she gave me creative freedom to take this idea and run with it. I always tell my Clients that this process can feel a little uncomfortable at first but, if they can put their trust in me it is so worth it!

As their session approached, we chatted about their ideal color pallet, locations that were special to them, and how to make it fun for Jake as well. We all know how much men TRULY enjoy having photos taken. Michelle and Jake love hiking with their dog, getting out on the water, and eating the best food Madison has to offer! It was very important that we could incorporate all the things that make their relationship so unique and special. As a reward after their session Jake would get to feast on a Culver’s meal. During our first few moments together I could tell I was going to like them. Jake and Michelle are so down to earth and sweet with one another. I always prep myself that I may be dealing with a grumpy and irritable partner– Jake was so helpful in pointing out different spots that could be nice, and really loving on his girls.

Right off the bat, Michelle and Jake told me that they weren’t models and could be awkward. I did not accept that as usually the people who say that are usually the most organic with each other. In order to take the edge off I had us walk up the hill and start with something really relaxed. We grabbed some beautiful landscape shots for them to showcase in their home.

Maternity Session in Madison, WI ended on a perfect note. My favorite part of their session was getting to laugh with them, hearing all about how their wedding in Mexico and how they were rained out but, it didn’t matter because it was still the perfect day. It moved me– it’s not about a perfect sunset or the trendy aesthetic. It’s about all the moments you are having together and never forgetting that.
