Little did she know a big big surprise was coming her way.Last Fall I hosted a Giveaway on my Instagram page to kick off my business re-brand. Morgan + Parker were the lucky couple to win a Session from me, and we thought it would be so fun to do their photos in their new home. A few days before their Session, I got a message from her boyfriend, Parker. He let me know he planned to propose and thought this would be the perfect time! We came up with a plan to execute this surprise discreetly.

They met in a bar in Chicago for St Patrick’s Day 2020, right before COVID shut everything down. They both almost didn’t go because the parade had already been cancelled, but were so glad they did. Morgan and Parker both noticed each other right away and it was love at first sight. They describe their relationship as always being very natural and easy and they wanted photos to mirror that.

When Parker and I were chatting on Instagram I told him I would give him a “trigger word” and that’s when he would know it was go time. The plan was for us to go outside and then he would tell us he needed to go to the bathroom. While he was Inside I would grab a few photos of just Morgan so he could have one printed for his desk. (OK WHAT THE HECK SO CUTE!!) and he would grab the ring. Once he came back out I would give them the prompt to face each other and tell each other what they liked most about one another.

I could tell right away this wasn’t going to be my typical Photo Session. Even though Parker is not a photo guy he never once made me feel unwelcome or rushed the process. The both of them describe their relationship as joyful and easy. There isn’t a day that goes by that they aren’t making each other laugh to the point of tears. First and foremost they are best friends and those were some tough shoes to fill! Morgan and Parker put their full trust in me to depict that friendship in their first Photo Session with one another. One of the sweetest and personal things Morgan shared with me was that every night she falls asleep rubbing his back (setting the bar reeeeeal high for the rest of us, girlfriend!)

I heard Parker tell Morgan “there’s something I want to ask you.” she acted confused. “what question? what do you mean?” That’s when Parker said ” I think you already know..” and then he pulled the ring out, got on one knee and asked Morgan to marry him! Morgan was so surprised and kept asking, “What!? Are you serious?! Is this really happening?!” I should also note that I cry during every proposal and first look I have ever done. I was so touched by the thoughtful care Parker put into this Proposal.
